My City Is A Fort

Kids ages 5-12 will be building cardboard forts to win prizes and have TONS OF SUMMER FUN! This unique contest is a Fort Smith original and it only takes place at Chaffee Crossing! Registration is first come, first assigned to a team of four, maximum 25 teams (100 kids). Prizes will be awarded in the 5-9 and 10-12 age categories and also for Overall Most Creative. This is a HUGE event. Shade and restrooms will be provided for family members but you must bring your own chairs. Sponsored by First National Bank-Fort Smith. Registration and the build will be on the lawn between the Vietnam Veterans Association chapter house and Ward Ave. Kid-friendly vendors will be set up along Ward Ave.

Meanwhile on Ellis St., don’t miss all the live music and the wide variety of farm produce that will be coming off the fields this month. Start the morning off right with a yoga class led by Yogaterrium (donations appreciated), then shop for farm fresh goodies and local art.

My City Is A Fort Rules

This is a FREE KIDS EVENT in conjunction with Chaffee Crossing Farmers & Artisans Market.
The “Fort Building Contest” is a competition for kids ages 5-12 to build Cartoon “forts”. Teams of 3-4 kids will be divided by age groups 5-9 and 10-12. Judges will select the top three winning teams in each age group based on 1) historical authenticity, 2) construction, and 3) creativity and design. Special Prizes will be awarded to one team in each age group for the most creative design. Every participant will receive a goodie bag and a copy of the “My City Is A Fort” Book (Limited to 100 participants)
 

PARENT INFO

PARENTS MUST STAY ON THE PREMISES AT ALL TIMES!
Registration is on site from 8:30am to 9:45am. Limited to 100 children. First come, first registered. You can encourage you children but not help them. Tents will be provided for spectator shade. Bring your own lawn chair(s).
